Why We Call Our Blog the Miracle of More

The miracle is a beautiful image of Ephesians 3:20--more than I can ask or imagine. Every day is a miracle. Every moment is a miracle. Specifically for our family, the miracle of more is our family growing in ways I would never have imagined when we first committed to adoption 8 years ago. But, the greatest miracle is the change in ME!

If you have questions about adoption, our work in South Africa, or spina bifida, please email me at rbmattox@bellsouth.net

All About Ellie

Two weeks until our next CT scan...and possibly two weeks until the cast is off! I'm trying not to get too excited, tried not to count down too early. But, we've made it almost 5 weeks in the cast, and Ellie continues to amaze me. Please pray she can come out of that cast soon and she can walk!

In the above picture, I found Ellie under the piano. You can imagine my surprise when I found her there, since I had last seen her in the great room. She has scooted her way from there to the foyer, playing a game with Josie-Tatum. That girl can do almost anything in that cast, almost as much as she could do with her walker. She and Josie-Tatum are downstairs now watching, "Dance and Learn Chinese with Mei Mei." She is singing with enthusiasm, swaying and moving her hands to dance to the music. JT is dancing around her in circles.

But, I am ready to see her dance....really dance. I am ready to watch her walk, to see her run, to see her skip. I am ready to see her climb the stairs without being on her hands and knees. I want to see her jump waves at the beach; she loves the ocean so. I want to see her come down the slide and be able to walk around to the ladder to go up again, without having someone help her or bring her walker. And, she desires all of those things, too. So, please help me pray.

She is doing so well in spite of her limitations. She is eating much better, though she has lost a good bit of weight I think. I can see daylight from one opening in the cast to the other at her waist and groin areas. But, at church last week, she looked at me and said, "Mama, I'm hungry." Just now she said, "What's for supper?"

On a lighter note:
And, personal feminine products continue to be a favorite "toy" of Ellie's. Yesterday, during lunch, she held one up to show me. I asked, "Where did you get that?" She said, "Under here." She had apparently stuck it under the dining room table top during another meal in case she had an emergency and needed a maxi pad but didn't have time to run to the store.

I can't tell you how much I want to see Ellie run, walk, skip and jump. There are great things in store for her. She has touched so many people. I'm praying so hard for you both. Thank you for being so faithful in keeping your prayer circle updated on her progress.

PS. Your feminine product stories keep me in stitches.

Okay, I must say that I am so glad I didn't have a whole lot of water in my mouth when I read the last part of this post because it would have ruined my laptop! Hilarious story!

Prayers for Ellie and her next appointment. I can't wait to see the post titled "Ellie is walking"!

One of my now grown sweeties lined our bathroom wall with panty liners...where was the MOM! But I have to say it was a very resourceful way to exercise that artistic talent :-) Can't wait to see Ellie running and jumping too. If anyone can/will, it's Ellie! Terry
